How I failed the phone interview.
Do you want to hear the funny story? Here it is. Once upon a time I was interviewed over the phone by Ms. Polly Fields from inforeliance.com. After several deep questions, definitely taken from a Microsoft Certification exam, I asked: "Are you hiring a teacher for George Mason University? Or you need a developer?" (Come on. This is only a phone interview. I am standing in the corridor with my cell phone, hiding from my boss...) The last straw, that actually broke my camel's back, was the question regarding the Stack. I used stack programming in Assembler, doing "Push/Pop" for five years! I explained her how Stack works vs. Queue in details... And "here comes Polly": "You did not answer the question correctly. The answer is - LIFO/FIFO"... Isn't this funny and ridiculous at the same time? So I said: "I am sorry, Miss Polly - my camel has broken its back so I can't talk to you any more. I have to take care of the poor animal..." |
